Safe and Secure in Christ

The great doctrines of salvation all indicate the security of the believer in Christ. Consider the following:

REGENERATION:

The life God gives is ETERNAL:  John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (See also John 10:28)

This eternal life is a PRESENT possession.: John 5:24 – “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

Those regenerated (born again) will NEVER perish: John 10:28 – And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

Those regenerated will NEVER face condemnation: John 5:24 – “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

REDEMPTION: God’s redemption is ETERNAL: Hebrews 9:12 – “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

Justification: All those justified shall be saved. That is a promise! Romans 5:9 – “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”

Reconciliation: Those who have been reconciled to God by faith have the promise of being presented “holy and unblameable and unreproveable in His sight.” (See Col. 1:21-22)

In the following verses, God plainly states things that SHALL BE for every true believer. There are no “ifs” or “maybes”. God does not say that these things might happen or very likely will take place. He says rather that they SHALL BE!

  • Be sure to read each of the following passages in their context in your Bible!

Col.3:4 – Ye shall appear with Him in glory!

Rom. 5:10 – We shall be saved!

Rom. 8:18 – Glory shall be revealed in us!

I Cor. 1:8 – He shall confirm us to the end!

I Cor. 15:51 – We shall be changed!

Phil. 1:6 – God shall finish the great work of salvation He has begun in us!

I John 3:2 – We shall be like Him!

Deliverance from condemnation is an accomplished FACT.

  • Be sure to read each of the following passage in their context in your Bible!

John 3:16 – The believer will not perish.

John 3:18 – There believer is not condemned.

John 5:24 – The believer shall not come unto condemnation.

John 10:28 – The believer shall never perish.

Rom. 8:1 – There is no condemnation for the believer in Christ.

I Thess. 1:10 – The believer is delivered from all wrath to come.

The believer is kept by the infinite POWER OF GOD! Our salvation rests NOT upon our feeble ability to “hold on” to God. Our salvation rests upon God’s ability to “hold on” to us. He is able!

I Peter 1:5 – “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

Hebrews 7:24-25 – “But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”

John 17:11 – “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own namethose whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.”

II Timothy 1:12 – “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”

Jude 24-25 – “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”

I Corinthians 1:8 – “Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

John 10:27-29 – “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

Things that we can and should KNOW

We can KNOW that we have eternal life.  I John 5:13 – “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

We KNOW that when He shall appear, we shall be like HimI John 3:2 – “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

We can KNOW that our labor is not in vain in the Lord. It would be if we lost our salvation and went to Hell!

I Corinthians 15:58 – “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

We can KNOW that God will one day raise us up by Jesus and present us before God with Paul and the other apostles!

II Corinthians 4:14 – “Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.”

If a true believer could lose his salvation, then such knowledge would be impossible. We could never KNOW if we would eventually make it into heaven or not. Yet the Bible clearly states that we CAN KNOW these things!

What Jesus did on the cross was ENOUGH to save us forever! Our sins can NOT condemn us. They have been paid in full on the cross of Calvary! Praise God!

Hebrews 10:10– “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

Hebrews 10:14– “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”

Salvation is a GIFT of God, given on the basis of GRACE, and not works. (read Ephesians 2:8-9) We did not obtain this gift by good works. We cannot lose this gift by producing “bad” works (sin). God saves us by His grace and He keeps us by HIS power. Salvation is of the Lord! (Jonah 2:9) Because of this, we who have trusted Christ as our personal Savior can KNOW that we have eternal life. (I John 5:13)

Don’t trust your fluctuating feelings. Trust God’s unchangeable Word!

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast (Hebrews 6:19a)
